Turkeys are large, majestic creatures and therefore need a lot of space to forage, spread their wings, and socialize. Our turkeys are moved every few days to fresh grass and are protected by portable electric fencing. On the pastures of WVF the turkeys can feast on grass, worms, bugs, and grubs. This pasture diet is especially important since turkeys are not vegetarians and require natural forms of animal protein.
As with all of our grain, it is sourced from a local family farm where they use only certified non-GMO seeds. We add in vitamins and minerals to make a
complete ration for the birds.
Manure from the birds is directly applied to the field as we move them along, eliminating the need to clean out barns or apply with a manure spreader & tractor. Also eliminated is the need to purchase chemical fertilizers to apply to the fields-we have never spread any.
Another strict criteria that we follow is all the processing, it is all done here on the farm. Our own processing facility ensures quality, cleanliness, reduces stress on the animal, and ensures a safe, sanitary environment for workers.
