There are a few different ways to describe our poultry raising methods. Some people call them free range, some pastured and some pasture-raised. The methods are a bit different and we will
describe here. The season for free-range, or pasture-raised chickens is May to October. (You can find the order form here)
means that the birds are raised only when there is a growing season for grass in New Hampshire. They are moved to new, fresh pasture once per day, never
touching the same plot of ground more than once per season. This ensures the birds are in a clean environment, and have plenty of fresh air and sunshine. We find that these techniques eliminate
the need for antibiotics. Our birds are therefore antibiotic-free and hormone-free.
The shelters we house them in are moved daily and are floorless so the poultry can feast on a lot of grass, worms, crickets and grasshoppers. This is especially important since
chickens are not vegetarians and require natural forms of animal protein for optimal health.
The grain we feed is delivered fresh monthly from a local family farm in New York State. They use only non-GMO grain and fertilize as naturally as possible. We then add vitamins
and minerals to form a complete ration.

We also harvest all of the birds here on the farm to ensure quality and cleanliness. It also reduces stress on the animal, and ensures a safe, sanitary environment for workers. The methods that
we use are documented to be the most humane way to harvest poultry as well.
